Please fill out the form below to apply for the Daugavas Vanagi USA Kursa Scholarship. Applicants must write an essay of no less than 300 words about “The Latvian Legion and Legionaries.” We recommend writing this essay in a separate word document and copying and pasting the finished essay into the online form.
General rules
- The scholarship application form and essay must be submitted by June 15.
- Incomplete forms or resubmissions of previous essays will not be accepted.
- A $250 scholarship will be awarded for the best essay on the Latvian legion and legionaries.
- If a student is awarded the scholarship, the amount will be deducted from the family’s tuition statement. If the tuition is already paid, the remaining funds will be sent via check.
- If the student, whose family was awarded the scholarship, is expelled from the school, the scholarship award must be repaid within 90 days. The days are counted starting from the first day the student is expelled. If the entire sum is not repaid by the deadline, Kursa has the right to add a 2% penalty fee each month.
